“Setting up a law office is an entrepreneurial venture as well”

On the occasion of the 10th anniversary of T-S Legal Law Firm, we approached Tamara Simić Pajović to share insights into her professional beginnings.

“In today’s professional world, individuals who establish their own businesses—entrepreneurs—earn a special kind of appreciation. However, one might often overlook the fact that lawyers are entrepreneurs as well. Establishing a successful law office, in addition to extensive expertise and experience, demands the same talents and traits that grace all other entrepreneurs: motivation, firm intuition, strong managerial capabilities, a good understanding of interpersonal relationships, integrity, ethics, and a rational tendency toward risk.

For me, the professional beginnings tied to T-S Legal unfolded practically like a “movie script.” At least that’s how it felt at the time. I often wonder what would have happened if I hadn’t found myself at the center of one of my first projects in the field of banking, or if I hadn’t encountered a foreign law firm that recognized a local partner in me, even though I was just starting my career, and provided support. It was then that I was entrusted with 100 cases for a leading commercial bank in Serbia. This endeavour felt enormous. From today’s perspective, this number represents only a fraction of the nearly 50,000-case portfolio we are currently managing in this, our anniversary, year.

Starting with only two of employees, the business secretary and myself, we managed to build an office with over forty employees in ten years. The challenges have been numerous. Nevertheless, good results and the satisfaction of our clients are inspiration enough to provide the constant “fuel” that keeps us moving and improving continually.

In fact, positive feed-back and trust from our clients over this ten-year period have been the main force behind our endurance and our main differentiator in the market of legal services. If I were to highlight one thing as the key to a successful business it would be just that—never taking our clients’ trust for granted.”
